AGM ...

The Annual General Meeting was held at the Thistleberry Hotel Newcastle on Monday 7th March 2011 with 18 members present.
The Route Planner reported on last years walks and thanked all for their contribution and continued support.

The meeting went as follows:

The Treasurer reported on the finances which showed £297.09 credit and the accounts agreed.

With the retirement of Doug Wilson this year, Dave Turner nominated M Jennings as Secretary which was agreed by a show of hands.

No other nominations for the committee were offered and the existing Chairman, Treasurer and Route planner were re-elected.

Dates for the programme of walks in 2011 were agreed and can be seen on our 2011 programme.

Information for all the walks will be sent out prior to the date by either post or e-mail and all walk details will be available via the web site.

There then followed a presentation to Doug Wilson for all his hard work over the last 20 years by Dave Turner & Linda Curtis.

As Secretary and Treasurer, there is no doubt that STARS would not have been the success it has been over the years if it was not for Doug's enthusiasm, commitment and love of walking.

Thanks Doug from all members past & present.

Membership fees will remain at £20 per year with guests contributing £3 per walk subject to a maximum of 2 walks when membership will be required. After discussion it was agreed that due to the increasing cost of fuel and to maintain membership fees at a reasonable level we will only provide a coach for the Christmas walk this year. Should any walks in the future involve coach transport they will be self funded, the only exception being the Christmas walk where consideration will be given to subsidise the cost of transport should sufficient funds be available.

Membership for 2011 is now due (new and existing), cheques made payable to STARS and sent to the treasurer at the following address.
